Vârful cu Dor

Vârful cu Dor, 2,030 m high, is in the Bucegi Mountains within the town of Sinaia, Prahova County, inside Bucegi Natural Park. It belongs to the line of peaks along the Prahova escarpment, between Furnica (2,103 m) to the north and Vânturiș (1,851 m) to the south. The peak overlooks Sinaia from the west, where the Bucegi rise above the resort in a cliff of more than 1,000 m. About 1 km to the north lies the Cota 2000 area, served by the lifts from Sinaia, from where a chairlift descends to Cabana Valea Dorului (1,820 m), in the Sinaia ski area. The red-stripe trail Sinaia - Cota 1400 - Șaua Vârfului cu Dor - Valea Izvorul Dorului - Șaua Lăptici - Cabana Padina (14.2 km, 6-7 hours, medium to difficult) passes by the peak. It climbs along Drumul de Vară, passes the former Vârful cu Dor hut and reaches Șaua Vârfului cu Dor (Curmătura Dorului). Visiting Bucegi Natural Park requires a ticket issued by the park administration.
