Vârful Bucșoiu
Vârful Bucșoiu, at an altitude of 2,492 m, is part of the main ridge of the Bucegi Massif, formed from Cretaceous conglomerates and sandstones. It is accessible from Bușteni via the Valea Cerbului route, taking approximately 4–5 hours, and is classified as a difficult trail. The area is included within Parcul Natural Bucegi and is home to protected species such as the chamois and edelweiss.

Vârful Bucșoiu is one of the defining peaks of the Bucegi Massif, reaching an altitude of 2,492 m, which places it among the highest summits in this mountain group. It lies immediately adjacent to Vârful Omu (2,505 m), the highest point of the Bucegi, and forms part of the massif's main ridge, oriented in a north–south direction. From a geological standpoint, the Bucegi are composed predominantly of Cretaceous conglomerates and sandstones, deposited approximately 100 million years ago, which give the slopes their steep appearance and the layered structure visible on the northern faces of Bucșoiu. The eastern slope descends toward Valea Cerbului, while the western slope drops toward the Bucegi Plateau. The peak is accessed from the resort of Bușteni, Prahova County, via several marked trails. The main route follows Valea Cerbului, marked with a blue stripe, and takes approximately 4–5 hours one way. An alternative route starts from Sinaia or from the Bucegi Plateau, which is accessible by cable car. The trails are classified as difficult near the summit, with rocky sections requiring appropriate equipment and mountain hiking experience. The area is included within Parcul Natural Bucegi, covering approximately 32,663 hectares, which protects alpine ecosystems home to species such as edelweiss (Leontopodium alpinum), chamois (Rupicapra rupicapra), and golden eagle (Aquila chrysaetos). Vârful Bucșoiu is well worth climbing for the direct access it provides to the alpine ridge of the Bucegi, for the sweeping panorama over the valleys of Prahova and Ialomița, and for the opportunity to observe the fauna and flora characteristic of the alpine zone.
