Cozla Gondola and Chairlift, Piatra Neamț
The Piatra Neamț gondola lift was built in 2008. Its lower station stands in front of Piatra Neamț railway station and its upper station is on Cozla hill, at the Trei Coline point, 657 m above sea level. The Doppelmayr installation has 8-seat cabins, a length of about 1,915 m and a capacity of 1,200 people per hour. The ride up takes around 6 to 8 minutes, and there are shops and cafés at the stations. The side of Cozla also has a ski slope of medium difficulty, with a maximum gradient of 22 degrees, opened in the 2010-2011 season and floodlit for night skiing. A Doppelmayr fixed-grip 4-seat chairlift, 827 m long, runs from the bottom to the top of the slope, between 387 m and 647 m, with a ride time of almost 7 minutes. Cozla hill rises on the northern side of the town and reaches 657 m at Trei Coline and 679 m at Trei Căldări, near the village of Gârcina. From Trei Coline, trails lead to Dărmănești, to Cârloman and to the rock known as „La trei căldări”, which has three round hollows about 60 cm across. At the foot of the hill lies the Nicu Albu garden, from where a stone-paved road climbs to the top. The gondola was operating in 2025, when Piatra Neamț City Hall announced discounts for residents of the city and of the communes of Gârcina, Alexandru cel Bun, Girov and Dumbrava Roșie, free rides for people with disabilities and pensioners, and the rehabilitation of the arrival area. The timetable varies by season, and the lift stops in strong winds.
