Poiana Brașov Resort
Poiana Brașov Resort sits at an altitude of about 1,020 m, on the southern slope of Mount Postăvarul. It is one of Romania's best-known and most visited mountain resorts, with a tourism tradition spanning over a century, its first systematic developments dating back to the interwar period. The resort occupies an extensive natural clearing, shaped through successive clearing within the Postăvarul forest massif, surrounded by spruce and beech forests on the central plateau. The ski infrastructure includes 9-10 approved slopes of varying difficulty, totaling about 24.5 km, served by cable cars, gondolas, T-bar lifts, and chairlifts. The longest slope in the resort — and in the entire country — is Drumul Roșu, 4.7 km long, ideal for gentle descents suitable even for beginners. Pârtia Lupului, though shorter, is considered the most technical and challenging slope in the resort, recommended for advanced skiers. The ski season runs, under normal snow conditions, from December to March, with artificial snowmaking available on the main slopes. The resort has a network of marked mountain trails leading to Postăvarul Chalet (1,604 m) and toward Brașov. The area's wildlife includes wolves, bears, and deer, typical of the Southern Carpathians. Worth visiting for the combination of certified ski facilities with direct access to mountain trails and the Postăvarul nature reserve.
