Neptun Resort

Neptun resort is located on the Romanian Black Sea coast, 7 km north of the city of Mangalia and 38 km south of Constanța, bordered to the west by Pădurea Comorova — a nature reserve declared in 1970 — and to the north by the resort of Olimp, which in fact constitutes the northern district of Neptun. The first hotels opened in June 1967, and construction took place on the site of the former 44-hectare Comorova marshy lagoon, transformed through hydraulic works into four lakes: Neptun I and Neptun II — with a total surface area of 15.6 hectares — and the lakes in Jupiter. Neptun I and Neptun II are surrounded by Pontic forest-steppe vegetation, dominated by pedunculate oaks and black locusts, and are home to colonies of water lilies and swans, making them a distinctive landscape feature that sets the resort apart from others on the coast. The resort has an accommodation capacity of approximately 12,000 beds, with hotels bearing historic Dobrogan names — Midia, Histria, Tomis, Callatis, Delta, Decebal, Traian, Neptun, Dobrogea — and a diverse leisure infrastructure: an open-air theatre, the Neptun Bazaar, a jetty, multipurpose sports courts, two minigolf courses and facilities for water sports. The main beach, known as "La Steaguri", features fine sand, a gentle entry into the water and a sandy bottom. The resort also has a balneary polyclinic, Doina, where rheumatic, neurological, dermatological and respiratory conditions can be treated using natural curative factors: a marine climate rich in aerosols, chlorinated seawater and mesothermal sulphurous waters with temperatures of 22–27°C.
