Răchițele (Hungarian: Havasrekettye) is a village in Mărgău commune, in the west of Cluj County, at the foot of the Vlădeasa Mountains, on the upper course of the Săcuieu river, known here as Valea Răchițele. The village has 633 inhabitants (2021 census) and also includes the hamlets of Doda Pilii and Ic Ponor.
At the 1930 census it had 1,512 inhabitants, almost all Greek Catholic. Since December 2022, Mărgău commune, to which the village belongs, has held the status of a tourist resort of local interest.
The best-known sight nearby is the Vălul Miresei (Bride's Veil) waterfall on the Stanciului valley, about 5 km west of the village. The Vârfurașu Cave, a natural monument, also lies within the village's territory. The forest road linking Răchițele with the Padiș plateau and, further on, with Pietroasa in Bihor County runs through Ic Ponor, so the village is also a starting point for Padiș from the Cluj side.
The Vârfurașu Cave is a protected area of national interest, a natural monument (code RONPA0342), covering 1 ha. The village itself is not a historic monument and has no separate resort status; the status of tourist resort of local interest belongs to Mărgău commune.
Did you know that the comedy film "Pup-o, mă!" (U Get What U Kiss, 2018), which later had two sequels, was shot in Răchițele, and that its story is also set in this village?
