Jupiter Resort

Jupiter resort is a locality within the municipality of Mangalia, situated on the Black Sea coast, between Cap Aurora to the south and Venus to the north, approximately 38 km south of Constanța. It entered the tourist circuit in 1966, as part of the systematic programme for developing coastal tourism in socialist Romania, alongside Saturn, Venus, Neptune and Olimp. During the communist period it was regarded as the youth resort of the southern coast, with a more lively nightlife compared to its neighbours and an extensive accommodation capacity. The resort's beach has fine sand and an average width of 40–60 m, with a gentle entry into the water and a sandy seabed with no rocky formations. The average temperature of the Black Sea water during the summer season ranges between 22°C and 26°C. The infrastructure includes medium-capacity hotels, balneary treatment facilities using sulphurous waters and sapropelic mud from the Mangalia area, and water leisure amenities. The resort borders the artificial lakes of the Neptun complex, accessible on foot via the continuous strip of beach connecting all the southern resorts. The resort's park, with its rich vegetation characteristic of the Comorova area, creates a cooler microclimate compared to the northern resorts on the coast. Together with Cap Aurora, Venus, Saturn, Neptun and Olimp, Jupiter forms a continuous chain of tourist localities along approximately 15 km of coastline in the south of the Romanian littoral, all administratively part of the municipality of Mangalia.
