The West Municipal Park lies in the western part of Ploiești, next to Ploiești Vest railway station, on former waste ground between the station and the western ring road. It covers about 54 ha, and Ploiești city hall describes it as the city's largest modern park.
The park was opened at the end of May 2016, after the original deadline of the European project, 31 December 2015, had been missed. According to hotnews.ro, the total investment was about 70 million lei, of which almost 50 million came from European funds. At the opening the planting consisted of young trees, and pedestrians coming from the city had to cross the railway line to reach it.
Its facilities include artificial lakes, wide paths, cycle tracks, sports areas and event spaces, including an open-air stage.
