The Romanian Automobile Museum

The Romanian Automobile Museum in Câmpulung Muscel is a private museum inaugurated on 19 July 2014, founded by engineer Emil Hagi and his son Alexandru Hagi, with the support of donors and Retromobil Club România. The collection grew out of the annual event "Câmpulung în amintiri" (Câmpulung in Memories), organised since 2006, and is housed in the former Apa Sărată-Pescăreasa Cultural Centre building, at the exit of the municipality towards Pitești on DN73, easily identified by the façade bearing the yellow letters "ROMAN". The museum is divided into two sections. The outdoor collection shelters approximately 50–70 historic vehicles manufactured in Romania, protected by a canopy: Dacia 1100, Dacia 1300, ARO, IMS, Oltcit, Roman and a Ford România. Many of the vehicles are registered and certified by Retromobil Club România as historic vehicles. The collection includes rare pieces — the original full-scale model of the ARO-CN concept, the ARO armoured cash transport vehicle produced in only 8 units, a sectioned M-461 engine unit and ARO automobile scale models. The indoor collection brings together thousands of exhibits: bicycles, mopeds, scale models, brochures, original technical drawings, documents and objects related to the history of the Romanian automotive industry, with a focus on the ARO brand — the symbol of Câmpulung, where the ARO factory reached a peak output of approximately 40,000 vehicles per year, employing 13,000 residents.
