Izvorul Minunilor Blaj

Izvorul Minunilor Blaj is a site of Orthodox pilgrimage tradition located near the resort of Stana de Vale, in Munții Apuseni, Bihor County, at an altitude of approximately 1,100 m. The spring is associated with local religious veneration and attracts pilgrims from the surrounding areas of Bihor County, as well as from the neighbouring counties of Cluj and Arad. The water source has a low flow rate, typical of mountain springs in the limestone areas of the Apuseni, and its water is regarded by the faithful as having therapeutic properties, a belief that gave rise to the site's popular name. The geographical setting is defined by coniferous and beech forests characteristic of the mid-montane belt, with mean annual temperatures of approximately 4–6°C. Stana de Vale, the main reference point for access, lies about 85 km from Oradea along DN76, with the route continuing to the spring itself via forestry roads or marked trails. The area is situated in the vicinity of Munții Vlădeasa, a massif reaching altitudes of up to 1,836 m. The pilgrimage to the spring takes place primarily around the Orthodox summer religious feasts. The site is worth visiting for those interested in forms of rural popular religiosity in the Apuseni and in the way spring veneration traditions have been preserved in the mountain communities of Bihor.
