Pitești Zoo

Pitești Zoo is a tourist and educational attraction located in Pădurea Trivale, in the city of Pitești, Argeș County, inaugurated in 1950. It covers an area of 12 hectares and is administered by the Administrația Domeniului Public Pitești, under the authority of the Pitești City Hall. The zoological collection comprises over 60 species and approximately 1,778 animals, birds, reptiles and exotic fish, originating from Africa, America, Australia, Siberia, Tibet, India and Romania. Among the species housed are specimens that are rare or unique in the country: the Tibetan bear, Ara parrots, Monk parakeets, Kiangi, Watusi, large wild carnivores — lions, tigers, wolves, bears — as well as various species of pheasants, monkeys, raccoons and deer. The zoo features a terrarium pavilion, aquariums with exotic fish and open-air enclosures for animals. Visiting hours are Tuesday–Sunday, 10:00–19:00 (summer) and 10:00–17:30 (winter), with Monday being a closed day. Admission prices are 12 lei for adults and 6 lei for children, pupils, students and pensioners.
