The Gazebo of the 3 Provinces - The Brotherhood of the Romanian Nation

The Gazebo of the 3 Provinces is a two-storey mountain observation tower situated on Vârful Giurgiu, at an altitude of 1,435 m, in Munții Vrancei, at the triple confluence point of Buzău, Vrancea and Covasna counties — and implicitly of the three great historic Romanian provinces: Muntenia, Moldova and Transilvania. It was built and inaugurated in 2018 by the foresters of the National Forest Administration – Romsilva, to mark the 100th anniversary of the Great Union of 1 December 1918. The official name of the site is "The Point of the Brotherhood of the Romanian Nation". From the upper platform of the tower, a single turn of the head offers views towards Moldova (north and north-east), Transilvania (west) and Muntenia (south). Next to the tower stands a signpost bearing three distinct trail markers — a red triangle, a yellow triangle and a blue triangle, the colours of the national flag — one for each province, each leading towards one of the adjacent regions. An information panel presents details about the Union and the personalities from all three provinces who contributed to Romania's Independence and Unification. Thematic trails marked with information panels lead hikers through some of the wildest areas in Romania. Access is possible from several directions: from Buzău County via forest roads from Gura Teghii; from Vrancea County along the marked trails of Munții Vrancei from Lepșa or Nereju; or from Covasna County from Comandău via forest roads. The area is part of one of the most isolated and least-travelled sections of the Carpații de Curbură.
