The Pană Filipescu Manor Museum is in the village of Filipeștii de Târg, in the commune of the same name, reached from the DJ101P road. The manor was built in the 17th century (the list of historic monuments dates it to 1650) by the family of Grand Logothete Pană Filipescu, husband of Maria, daughter of the High Steward Constantin Cantacuzino, a short distance from his father-in-law's court. It is regarded as an important example of Wallachian civil architecture.
The estate stayed with the Filipescu family until after the First World War, when it was sold to the Cantacuzino family. The manor was restored in 1968-1971 by the architect Mișu Rădulescu, then fell into disrepair for lack of maintenance funds. In 2012 a financing contract was signed under the 2007-2013 Regional Operational Programme for a new restoration, and the museum opened here on 24 May 2016.
The permanent exhibition includes documents on the Cantacuzino and Filipescu families, a life-size portrait of the High Steward Mihai Cantacuzino painted by Theodor Aman, models of the Cantacuzino foundations in Prahova, old church books, icons and period vestments. One room is dedicated to Gheorghe Grigore Cantacuzino, known as „Nababul”, with period furniture and documents. The cellar holds archaeological finds, farming tools and a lapidarium of crosses and gravestones, and three ice houses on the north side have been reopened to visitors. The park has statues of Mihai Viteazul, Șerban Cantacuzino, Constantin Cantacuzino, Drăghici Cantacuzino and Pană Filipescu.
The ensemble „Curtea boierească a lui Pană Filipescu” is a listed historic monument, LMI code PH-II-a-A-16489 (the manor PH-II-m-A-16489.01 and the precinct wall PH-II-m-A-16489.02). The museum is a branch of the Prahova County Museum of History and Archaeology under Prahova County Council and is open to visitors.
