Cheile Întregalde

Cheile Întregalde is a nature reserve of national interest located in western Transylvania, in the Munții Trascău, along the upper course of the Galda river. The reserve covers 25 hectares and was declared a protected area under Law no. 5 of 2000. Edelweiss (Leontopodium alpinum), protected in Romania as a natural monument, grows on the rocks here at an unusually low altitude for this alpine species. Other rare plants include Geranium macrorrhizum, Transylvanian liverleaf (Hepatica transsilvanica), globeflower (Trollius europaeus) and Siberian iris (Iris sibirica). The flora also includes beech, sessile oak, hornbeam and birch. The reserve is part of the Trascău site of community importance and is included in the National Heritage of Natural Monuments. Access is via the DN1 road between Alba Iulia and Aiud as far as Galda de Jos, then along DJ107K through the village of Modolești.
