Horn Waterfall (Mioarele Waterfall)

Horn Waterfall, also called Mioarele Waterfall after the stream on which it forms, is the highest single-drop waterfall in the Munții Vrancei, with a height of approximately 25 m. It is situated on a right-bank tributary of the Coza river, hidden approximately 100 m into the forest from the forest road, along an extremely narrow valley. Difficult access and the lack of clear signage have kept it away from mass tourism, although specialists consider it one of the most spectacular waterfalls in the Carpații de Curbură. There are two access options. The first and most frequently used: from the village of Tulnici, follow the local road through the hamlet of Fundătura, then the forest road along Valea Coza for approximately 14–16 km, of which 11 km are passable by a high-clearance vehicle as far as the Alunu forestry station. From Alunu, continue on foot for 4–5 km to the junction with the yellow-dot marked trail toward Șaua Golici, continue another half a kilometre along the forest road, and at the first right-bank tributary of the Coza, enter 100 m into the forest along a narrow valley — the waterfall appears there. The second option: from Păulești, follow the yellow-dot marked trail (T9), which follows the bed of the Mioara stream and leads directly to the waterfall, covering approximately 12 km; estimated walking time is 3 hours from the point where a vehicle with standard clearance can be parked. In the area immediately upstream of the waterfall there is a semi-abandoned bear feeding station, indicating that the area is frequented by brown bears — a factor to be taken into account when planning a visit. The full route Focșani–Vidra–Năruja–Nistorești–Herăstrău–Dealul Negru–Șaua Golici–Horn Waterfall–Păulești–Tulnici, covered entirely on foot, takes 6–8 hours for experienced hikers and 10 hours or two days for others.
