The "Nicolae Titulescu" Memorial House is situated in the commune of Nicolae Titulescu, Olt County, a locality formerly known as Titulești, on whose estate the diplomat and statesman Nicolae Titulescu (1882–1941) spent his childhood. The manor house was built in 1910 on a ridge above the Vedea River, in the middle of an orchard, and served as a holiday and leisure residence for the Titulescu family between 1907 and 1941. The building's architecture retains numerous traditional elements characteristic of Oltenia, with semicircular terraces on the façade facing the river. After 1940, the manor came under the administration of the Romanian Academy, which, in accordance with Nicolae Titulescu's last will and testament, established a village library and a community school here between 1945 and 1949. In 1982 the building was designated a memorial house, and since 24 February 2000 it has operated as a branch of the Olt County Museum. The displayed collections include personal belongings, desk items, period furniture, photographs, documents and correspondence relating to the diplomatic career of the man nicknamed "Minister of Europe", who served twice as President of the League of Nations. The building is listed on the Register of Historical Monuments under code LMI OT-IV-m-A-09108. It is well worth visiting for its memorial and architectural significance, providing the tangible setting in which one of the most important figures in Romanian diplomacy spent his childhood.
