Belvedere Bisoca

Belvedere Bisoca denotes the highest accessible point on the ridges near the commune of Bisoca, Buzău County, at an altitude of approximately 1,404 m, in the Munții Buzăului — part of the Carpații de Curbură. From the summit and the adjacent ridges, one of the most expansive panoramas in the mountain area of Buzău County unfolds, encompassing the arc of the Carpații de Curbură, the Bisoca-Neculele depression, the valleys of the Râmnic and Bâsca rivers, and, in clear weather, extensive portions of the Câmpia Română. The slopes are covered for the most part by beech and spruce forests, with areas of secondary grassland near the ridges. The area forms part of the Natura 2000 network and shelters characteristic Carpathian fauna — wolf, brown bear, Carpathian red deer, and various raptor species. The Bisoca area as a whole is an isolated corner of Buzău County, described by its visitors as "a corner of paradise", with well-preserved traditions and folk costume. Over the years it has attracted cultural figures such as Alexandru Odobescu, Alexandru Vlahuță, and the painter Nicolae Grigorescu. Near the viewpoint lie Cascada Bisoca, the Rezervația Lacurile Bisoca, and Mănăstirea Poiana Mărului — attractions that can be combined into a single day's itinerary. The trail to the ridge sets off from the village of Bisoca along forestry roads and marked paths, with a return journey of approximately 3–4 hours.
